Our Services

  • sessions for students

Sessions to get kids hands-on building a bike from a box and fixing a puncture. These work best as groups of 3 for 90 minute sessions, three times a day.

More advanced sessions for eager pupils repairing their own bikes. Focused sessions of 2 pupils for 2 hours work best, we’re able to conduct these sessions twice a day.

  • servicing all bikes

We will meet the students on arrival, usually at the bike sheds where the work takes place; giving the students the opportunity to discuss the issues with their bike.

Our standard is to service at least 30 bikes per school day and we will discuss work completed with the students when they come to collect them at the end of the day.

studies confirm: “physical activity before school improves attention and academic performance”

Active-Start Intervention: A study involving Chilean children implemented a before-school physical activity program called Active-Start. The results indicated improvements in selective attention and concentration capacity among participants https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31410887

Positive Impact on Test Scores: The same study from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte observed that students participating in pre-class exercise sessions showed improvements in math test scores compared to those who did not engage in such activities. https://inside.charlotte.edu/news-features/2017-02-21/study-exercise-school-benefits-students-throughout-day

Bedford Borough Council’s ‘Air Care Bear’ is visiting school in the Borough, ensuring parents dropping their children off are not idling. Pollutants contribute to multiple health implications, especially as lungs are still developing in children. Aggravation of asthma, allergies, and other respiratory conditions in children are triggered by pollution which could be drastically reduced by the lack of idling vehicles in school zones. https://www.bedford.gov.uk/environmental-issues/noise-nuisances-and-pollution/air-quality/air-care-journeys-project

Improved Air Quality Near Schools: Implementing "School Streets" schemes, which restrict motor traffic during school hours, has been shown to reduce nitrogen dioxide levels by up to 23% during morning drop-off times. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_Streets
